Spending my childhood in China, I have been influenced by thousands of years’ worth of Chinese culture and the beauty of dying Asian folk art. By cutting out the forms held within a single sheet of paper in nontraditional ways, I find my voice and embrace my identity in the contemporary art world.

The media of paper cut is less forgiving and requires lots of courage. It hinders reconsideration of original vision and judgment. Once it is cut there is no going back, only forward. Perseverance, accuracy, and patience are key.

Fascinated by the transformation of reverse perspective under new reality in artwork, I use a lightbox to make white paper become the shadow and the empty become light. Under black lighting, the fragmented and qualified sheet of paper becomes the most beautiful work of art.
